Cheshire Police Mobile Data Open Day
Cheshire Police are hosting an open day on 21st March 2007 at thier force HQ. The event will be attended by police forces across the UK only and is intended to cover the forces strategy on mobile data, discuss anticipated benefits both financially and operationally. The day will culminate with a live demonstration followed by Q&A and a buffet lunch.
Inspector Tim Derbyshire, Mobile Data Project Manager at Cheshire explains, "As an officer with operational experience I am fully aware of the duplication of effort involved in the submission of information in to various types of reports. It is not uncommon currently to have to write or type the names and dates of birth of individuals arrested up to sixteen times. We believe that mobile data technology will begin to reduce the massive administrative burden currently experienced by police officers ultimately making them more available for community based activities or deployment to emergencies."
The force is the first to have extensive read and write capabilities into Command & Control, Case Custody, Crime ( all via Niche), PNC, QAS and Stops. Developed by Beat Systems this fully integrated mobile solution with Niche is a first in UK policing.
